Uncle of Sakura (mc or love interest) is trans.
no stigmatization and not a massive part of his personality or characterization, i like how they introduced it
how not to add it when talking about trans men/boys in manga
obviously not perfect, but its still a great and awesome picture of transidentity through the lens of the author/Ryuu
Utsumi (adult working there) is a trans man
this manga as a whole is a masterpiece and has incredible lesbian, gay, trans, gnc, asexual and other rep
quite sad, and touching
it truly is one of my favorites
while this story is not based in japan, it is made by a japanese author in the 70s, and so using codes and ways to represent transidentity that are now considered offensive, which was not necessarily the case at that time
this note being done, yes claudine is referred to incorrectly, but is still quite a good introspection
regardless of the story as a whole and of the questionable elements there (its fujimoto) togata (major character) is imo quite a good representation, he clearly states as best as he can that “he’s a man in a woman’s body” and isnt stigmatized
this is a bit more tricky to classify.
i think its important to separate irene adler from james bond, james bond is a man, irene seems to be a woman when she was, but they embraced so easily and with so much enjoyment james’ person, that i think it is safe to consider them a trans man, or gnc/non binary -> masculine aligned
so while i and other people consider irene/james the same person and a trans man, others may not
