Reread: probably my favorite harada. absolutely beautiful. the pacing is nice, we learn what’s happening with the characters, and the lack of sex creates a greater sense of intimacy b/w them. their love goes beyond the physical and i wouldn’t describe it as romantic but affectionate, and the “unhappy” ending provides a broader theme of learning to love and let go. a must-read, deserves a proper analysis.
found this on accident years ago and was my introduction to harada. ive reread it maybe 4 times and i wish i could experience it for the first time again. genuinely brilliant work. this isnt a work to read if youre looking for romance or a sweet story, but as a psychological horror it is a very good read. one of the most visually stunning works i have read and conveys horror so well with the pacing of the story and the placement of the frames. It is a truly cinematic piece.
i didnt expect to like this this much, but i loved it. as a person who's experienced the loss of someone dear to me, this really struck a chord. I think it's a gorgeous exposition about the ways we choose to remember and portray people after they're gone, and the ways we may try and escape the grief we feel. i see people treat this as a joke because of the ending, but i think it's a profound work and i cried several times reading it.
thought chainsaw man looked cool, read it, and had one of the best experiences with a manga in my life. the art of mangas is the 1st thing i look for, and this style is so fun and dynamic it immediately caught my eye. the story, too, is brilliant. it's made me laugh and cry and feel the sort of cathartic sadness you can only get from a manga like this. read the whole thing, you wont regret it.
beautiful art gets me every time. i really like the concept of a monster wishing to be loved as a human, and trying to unlearn its nature. highly recommend.
this was my absolute favorite manga of all time in high school. i watched the show and liked it so much i read this up to the most recent update at the time, and when the next season came out i was unbelievably excited until they skipped my fav arc lol. i think this is worth it to read, at least to the end of the second arc. i cant speak for the rest of it because i didnt read until the last update.
i read this so long ago, probably 2017/18! i dont remember much but i know it was one of the longer works i stuck with, and the story eventually caught my attention. the sex is like sure whatever but the plot, at the time, really pulled me in and made me stick with it. I remember crying at some point, dont really remember why.
