I worship the ground chongtak walks on. The sculptured faces, the hand porn, the precise anatomy. Each panel is a piece of art. Chongtak really knows how to draw aged men, even their eyebags give off sexiness. Plotwise a bit lackluster, wish they published an art book but this is the next best thing.
Personal fav. Gorgeous art with nice character design. I adore the way author colors, especially the skin tones, almost like it’s translucent. Actually I adore the way they draw everything. The action scenes were on par with shounen mangas and plot is great.
Not my usual preferred style in terms of illustration, but since this is a manga I agree it takes mad skills to make every panel as detailed and finely drawn as if it is a painting itself. Like the comments said, ‘ biggest art flex ever’ .
Very refreshing to see retro art style used in webtoons. Color scheme uses a subtle yellowish overtone, along with grainy texture gives off that vintage faded paper vibe. Using screentones and hatchings for shading instead of solid color hones that vibe even more.
I haven’t read a lot B&W mangas so not the most qualified to judge here, but even so this artwork feels incredible to me. The background is realistic, shading is layered but balanced, each character even minor ones have distinct design to show their personalities, action scenes are super dynamic and there were a lot of unusual angles that were prob hectic to draw.
General consensus the best work of Harada art wise. ‘Bai miao’ a technic in traditional Chinese drawing, uses ink and simple lining to bring out the essence of the drawn subject, is most fitting to describe the style of this work. Ml’s facial expressions consists of only a few very simple pen strokes yet is so enticing. For his body, simple but sensual lines are used for outlining and shading is sparse, leaving a blank canvas to accentuate the piercings.
B&W with accent color are nothing new, but usually it’s red this is the first time I’ve seen one use fluorescent green? It really pops and gives a youthful vibe. Kudos for very ingenious ways of using that color too. The art is cute and everything make me dokidoki
It really shows when artists go out of their way to draw detailed background instead of just pasting from 3d models. Great ambiance lighting and visual depth for the backgrounds. Nice color schemes that references traditional Chinese ‘heavy color’ art, brings out the grandiosity of Tang Dynasty. Each panel finely drawn and screencap worthy.
