mc falls in love with a straight guy and instead of the typical yaoi cliche the guy doesn't fall in love back, and they just remain as friends
(dont get me wrong this trope is heartbreaking and i'm always yearning for them to end up together, but i appreciate the realism in depicting such relationships)
i will say some of these imply the love interest might like the mc back or it might be vague and hopeful for the future but they never canonically do
mc in love with a guy who acts homophobic but is just lashing out from his internalized issues. hes struggling with himself and figuring out if hes into men or not so he tells mc he's not ready to respond to his feelings yet. they dont end up together since its open ended but i think the implication is there that they might
this ones still ongoing but but mc loves his straight best friend. unrequited but feels like the author might turn in it the other direction and have it be a romance at some point (im praying )
i wont say too much cuz i dont wanna spoil but it is one guy pining for another for most of the story
