So sweet, so sad, and so happy for everyone. Reincarnations of distant ancestors who are trying to find their ways through this life. All are treated in different ways by their families (some revered, some abused), all are isolated simply because they harbor power and differences stemming from the original being, and all are trapped by what they are.
A smart girl who shows little emotion decides to ask a very flighty, carefree classmate to be her boyfriend for a month. (I think it was a month.) Anyway, through their interactions, she opens up even as she faces major surgery for a brain tumor, and he narrows his focus on the girl he has come to love.
Despite having an 'evil' face, she finally reaches her dream of being a nursery school teacher, where she meets adversity from the kids and finds the oddest love ever with another teacher. He used to be a coroner, he gave it all up to teach babies. It's funny and sweet and I liked it up to the point when they did a future scene, and though only about fifteen years had passed, everyone looks the same but the ex coroner, who looks half pruned. Very sad indeed.
Part 1: Middle school girl who observes and records her classmates and their shenanigans for her private entertainment. She has wrapped herself in a shroud of isolation, not entirely due to loneliness or the constant relocation of her family, as she is a bit more cerebral and, in a sense, jaded than those around her. Then she encounters three people at one school who become a catalyst for her metamorphosis into someone more capable of interacting, rather than simply observing.
Part 2: The first year of high school our little heroine changes from observer to someone who engages, but with her limited experience with interacting, she finds herself at a loss in some situations, embroiled in the political intrigue of her new school, and romance. It is in this story she begins to waver a bit in her strength, but she pulls through, and once first year begins to come to a close, the time jump is huge, but it has a sense of closure.
She is a woman who has been falsely accused, thus, from her prison cell, she uses her scheming abilities to terrorize the inhabitants of the castle. Awesome. Though, there should be much more to this story.... So much more in the way of justice and punishment and, perhaps, the meeting of her equal in the second prince.
Due to growing up as a pariah, she ends up indebted to a demon for her very life. He showers affection on her under the pretense of sharing his life giving blood with her, but she has a hard time accepting these overt displays. She resists, but also knows that she needs to stay by his side, and eventually the realization of mutual awareness and emotion comes to pass. Good read.
During a school trip a petite girl meets a boy who possesses a strength, and an eye color, that terrifies those around him. She is intrigued and speaks with him, allowing him to become a little less frightening. She is then the target of a classmate's fear when she takes out a rogue bear! Too bad it's so short...
Aww. In order to keep her friend from getting hurt, a girl chronically praised for her looks and grace turns herself into a fighter capable of protecting herself and others, but finds there are still times when she can be protected.
A girl forced to runaway from every 'home' she's ever been taken into, is now determined to live on her own and snatch a rich man! Determined as she is, she accidentally stumbles onto a secret that changes her life forever, turning her from homeless teen to maid ready to tackle the toughest grime.
