I’ve no clue why but its art reminds me of cicadas in the summer. Filled with poignant dialogue and unapologetic humour, courtesy of a few silly teens who brave their everyday with clumsy fervour.
He’s a looker, a gentleman and has degrees in both dentistry and medicine. Jack would be an Asian mother’s dream, if we found out that he also practices violin for more than 40 hours a day.
BL with a seinen/shounen art style. Untapped niche, imo.
This one’s good because it’s got consenting adult men in a relationship that doesn’t revolve around their endeavours in bed. They legit like to just hang out with each other for fun - and it’s fun to see them hang out, because they’re both endearingly idiotic.
The funny shenanigans of a stooge and his loyal himbo. The politics are stupid and hilarious.
Wei Wuxian is an impressive, multi-faceted character and the world he lives in is masterfully crafted by MXTX. She’s like the J.K Rowling of danmei, with the level of detail she incorporates into her storyline whilst still maintaining the slow but sure progression of the larger plot at hand.
The cover art makes me feel warm and fuzzy inside. I Hear the Sunspot is also a beautiful title. I started reading BL during the first, carefree summer of lockdown and this was one of my firsts, so maybe the fact that it’s steeped in nostalgia is why I keep it on this list despite not having reread it in years. More so than their romance, I admired their unique friendship. One of the few BLs that indirectly teaches you life lessons, particularly in kindness and openness towards others.
