Same artist as 'Zero at the Bone' but different author. Honestly all of Son Gaepi's work will probably be here. I love this so much, amazing world-building and such a fun diverse cast and an interesting mystery. Basically, fantasy police shenanigans, and I love it. This is the first book in a series called 'Thirds' by Charlie Chochet so I highly recommend that as well. This is for people who enjoy higher-paced, upbeat, action comedies.
UGH THIS IS THE YURI COUPLE. This probably top 3, I love their dynamic a lot. If you're not a fan slow-burn I think you'll still like this. The characters are so fun to get attached to, the cast is way more diverse than I thought it would be as well. They even have their token straight guy best friend and he's a joy whenever he shows up. And nothing needs to be said about the art, it's amazing obviously. This is an absolute must-read.
Great healthy rags x riches story. Also like that they have a non-stereotypical s*x dynamic. Execellent communication, and I like that Woowon helps Seoan with his social anxiety. As someone who also has social anxiety, I think the comic is great at handling this disorder and how it can be crippling to someone's life. Only gripe would be that it drags out the story at the end a lil, but still enjoyable regardless.
I have a love-hate relationship with this one, because I hate tragedy romance, but it's just so good. Great plot, interesting characters, and it's intriguing to learn about what happened to Jae-ha. The art is s Seeing them interact through the phone was heart-wrenching in the best kind of way. But the way it ended just made me want to punch the screen lowkey (no spoilers tho). But I think it still deserves to be here, and if you don't like the ending, it's ok for you to come up with your own.
Can never go wrong with gay parent mangas (well they're not actually but close enough). They're always a fluff feast and warming to the soul. These two are no exception and seeing Yutaka's slow integration into the family is sweet. And to see that they managed to last as a family unit and get to see the kid grown up is very satisfying. This is great if you enjoy slice-of-life family fluff stories.
This is one of the sequel mangas to Doukyuusei, which you may have watched the anime movie or the manga, this is a well known series. I actually prefer this one to the first. The mangaka just got way better at writing for this couple and it's interesting to see them deal with adult problems and grow as people and couple. Also their wedding is so beautiful it gives the manga a 10 out of 10 alone.
The last Son Gaepi masterpiece on this list. Hooo boy this is a hard read, but when you get to the end and their relationship makes it all worth it. It's so sad when you learn Soongap's backstory and when his brother comes into the picture it's all just heart-wrenching. The brother is absolutely detestable, to the point you'll just love hating him. But great story, Gaepi's art completely elevated, this is probably one of the greatest period/historical Joseon Era BLs.
So if you ever read a BDSM BL story... this is nothing like that. It completely takes every problematic thing about that genre and just sh*ts on it. This is the healthiest take on on properly using kinks. It's all consensual and there's actually a plot due to fact that Mizuki is an idol. The last arc is the best and seeing Tooru take steps to try and get a normal job for his bf, is just... ANYWAYS PLEASE READ THIS. Best BDSM relationship hands down.
I won't spoil anything but just know this is a tearjerker. The tragedy tag is there for a reason, but it'll all be worth it. This is one of those romances you just have to enjoy the process, and I like that you get to see them heal each other. And Tetsuta slowly gaining his ability to make music again is encouraging to those artists who are struggling in their craft.
If you're looking for BL in this story, your not getting it becuase that's not what this is. It's a celebration of LGBTQ+ identities and people. This is one of the best representations for not only youth and adults who need this. The art just draws you in and the cast draws you into this world and the beauty of finding queer found-family. Probably one of the best LGBTQ+ comics period, regardless of its origin. (Ofc there's lesbians and lesbian wedding and yes the mc does get the guy tho)
