One of my top webtoons ever. It has comedy, good characters, complex relationships, great pacing, and even when it falls into cliches the characters are so lovable I don't mind.
Read if you like characters with awakened super powers. While the main character is wholesome but steady and his mentor is hot, strong, and injured.
Not great, there's no real character development. You're basically just told this is what did or will happen and the final part of the story could have been taken out and it wouldn't have mattered really.
But if you want to waste some time with an OP mc and knowing the story is finished it's fine.
Contains:
- humans sucked into vr game
- when they die they come back to earth where the game is actually going on
- MC is the final returner with all his OP abilities and his max level.
A chef gets into an accident and loses his sense of smell and taste.
After quitting his job and being depressed for a time he gets a job at a snack shop and starts playing a VR game where he can smell and taste in the game.
Story is finished and it was really fun. Also a warning the purpose of this story was more to help the characters in reality. You won't get conclusions for any story lines in the VR game because it's not the actual focus.
Haven't been reading lately but one of the first stories I read in this genre.
MC was reading a light novel and was the only reader to finish it.
Suddenly he gets a weird email and the contents of the light novel start happening in the world. But he's not supposed to be the MC.
Contains:
- Humans as players to entertain watching gods/constellations.
- Land broken up into "servers" for streaming and trials
- MC collects a diverse entourage to help him while hiding his special power.
Listen at this point everyone who reads this genre has read or knows about Solo Leveling. It was the first I read of the genre and I really enjoyed it, but after awhile I got tired of the political and power plays.
If you wanted a story about an OP MC who basically played hardcore minecraft to level up this is for you.
I haven't kept up to date with it but it was fun and a nice twist on the OP MC where he's a production class instead of a fighter/hero/necromancer/etc. And it keeps decently light hearted.
MC is huge and his dad wants him to be a pro fighter but MC just wants to be a florist. So he starts playing a VR game where you can be anything you want. Still ends up fighting a lot and basically barely doing anything florist related so I stopped reading, but it has funny moments.
MC uses a vr capsule just to sleep. One day he decides to actually play the game and is awarded a secret class for having spent so much time sleeping in game.
Fun idea but the VR game story starts getting too convoluted to follow when reading the weekly updates.
MC used to be the top ranker in the VR game. Deletes his account when his family goes bankrupt and basically ghosts everyone he knows. An old and true friend finds him and gives him access to a capsule encouraging him to start again and make money streaming in game.
Not bad story wise. Has some lulls in plot and MC has the money crazy trait but he does genuinely enjoy the game so it makes up for it.
At 18 MC awakened and thought his life would get better. After 5 years of killing 1 goblin a day he's still level 1.
It's a pretty good story for awhile and the ways he gets stronger are neat.
However there is a drastic change in art after awhile. So drastic I thought a different webtoon had been uploaded in the wrong place. Also where the current story is at has been dragging and confusing to the point someone in the comments had to explain the timeline because they had read the light novel.
