Lovely, sweet, realistic story.
- Gay uke returns to the dying island he grew up on and left because of family abuse and public ostracism, to help renovate and save it. He finds his childhood love, still here.
- Focused on the relationship the characters have with the dying island, their queerness as well as each other.
The feelings of clinging to your childhood home, of returning to it as an adult, of juggling being queer and being a part of a small, conservative community hit a bit too hard.

Great, tear-jerking, dramatic story.
- People living in the last days before the end of the world. That topic is explored in a thoughtful, interesting way. Focused on the personal relationship with death (one's own and others') and suicide.
- The main couple are exes who had a bad breakup in college, both still hung up on it.
Elevated my opinion of the author from "good BL writer" to "good writer in general".

Stunning artstyle. The plot is a unique dom/sub verse, explored gently and thoughtfully.
- Dom seme with an inferiority complex x sub uke who pretends to be a dom, also out of an inferiority comples, and who is not affected by suppresants.
I'm really looking forward to seeing more of this artist's work.

Very imaginative worlbuilding and story, the bird-people (titular zhen) are a feast to look upon.

Hilarious genre-savvy humor, great art and smut.
- Humor is built on the conrast between BL-loving, pervy, masochistic uke whose view of the world is a bit twisted because of that, and a seme with the background of a typical chaebol boss, but with an actually realistic and reasonable personality. They are simply living different genres.
The artist actually draws realistic faces for background characters, and it shows that the pretty-faced main couple are pretty in-universe.

Beautiful, realistic artstyle and very erotic, gentle, intimate sex. The mutual seduction, and by extension first and second sex scenes, are one of the hottest things I've ever read.
Uke is a very closed-off man, ashamed to be percieved and understood, but seme sees him and strips him of his defenses.
Author's works are always beautiful and hot, and I recommend them all, but this one is a favorite.
