The manga that inspired me to make this list. Does feature some actual goats... (hehe, Rostam!)
A beautiful coming-of-age tale about life's changes, challenges, and inspirations.
A true GOAT also has the power to humanize--even universalize--a taboo or shameful topic, and Watashi no Shounen does this. Many will struggle with the taboo subject matter of this story. All I can say is that I hope you will allow it the chance to move your heart, even a little.
A GOAT doesn't have to be about controversial social topics or a sweeping epic, as this light yet full-hearted story of first love and growing up shows.
Not all GOATs are sweeping epics of a grand scale containing an entire fleshed-out world...this one is, though.
A BL that even non-BL lovers should read. Possibly *the* GOAT of the genre, by the GOAT herself, Youneda Kou.
One mark of a true slice-of-life GOAT is that even the most mondane or unattractive subjects become spellbinding through its treatment of them. There may be no better slice of life than Silver Spoon.
Always hard to pick just one Higashi Nishida story (one sign of a GOAT mangaka). Her style of BL is not for everyone (as evidenced by the ratings on nearly all her stories) but her consistent voice and the charm of her characters are undeniable.
