After Amane's ability to hear others' thoughts through his bare hands was learned, Amane and his mother were cast out of the village. After 3 years of living in the forest, Amane's mother dies. Then, alone with only his animal friends for 6 years, Amane is rescued, after falling from a cliff, by a traveling herbalist with a red eye, Kisaragi, who was led there by Amane's friend wild dog Riku. Ch. 3-5: Though everyone thinks teacher Fujita is unsociable and scary, Yukihiro fell for the Fujita's gentle smile he occasionally sees. While asking around to find out more about Fujita, Yukihiro discovers Fujita likes cats. However, when Yukihiro uses that information to get closer to Fujita, Fujita reveals he's hiding cats in the Japanese language prep room and Yukihiro begins visiting the prep room everyday.

While escaping from the director one day, Nagasu happens upon a pet shop cafe. He immediately meets, and saves, the shop's owner Fudo, a mysterious man who sells a variety of unique pets that always seem to perfectly match the customer's desires.

After being chased by a large dog when he was 4 years old, Moegi has become afraid of large dogs and dislikes all dogs in general. When his older sister forces Moegi to take her dog Poppy to obedience training, Moegi takes interest in police dog trainer Kanata, who's horrible at dealing with people, but is great with dogs. Around Kanata, Moegi is even able to forget his hatred of dogs.

Akira hates Kaito, who has stolen his spot as the no. 2 host and his customers and sexually harasses him on stage. Though their relationship improves after Akira helps Kaito's grandmother, when the lost dog, Fuji, Akira has been keeping turns out to be Kaito's lost dog, Kaito thinks Akira kept Fuji from him out of spite, causing things to get even worse. Despite the misunderstanding, Kaito saves and takes care of Akira after a customer drugged him and Akira's feelings for Kaito begin to change.

Singaporean exchange student Fon falls for parrot specialty-shop owener Masaka. Luckily, his only rival seems to be Peter the store's parakeet.

Jinno has always dreamed of petting a rabbit, but his stern face scares them off. At the park, Jinno is finally given his chance, when he runs into a lop ear rabbit and Kou, the hungry university student in charge of it. To save Little Loppy from becoming Kou's emergency food, Jinno offers Kou donuts and in exchange gets to hold Little Loppy. While listening to Kou's struggles and watching him eat, Jinno begins to think Kou is similar to the cute rabbits he loves.
