Betcha' didn't think that anything with 'porno' in the title could be serious, did you? Well think again. Psychological and manipulative, if this is you're cup of tea, then read on. It is a fairly short one shot, but it has a twist that I can guarantee you've never seen before (or at the very least haven't seen more than once or twice).
Everything in this anthology is messed up. My personal favorites are Chap. 1, Chap. 4, and of course, the last chapter, Chap. 7 (and/or Chapter 10—they never define which it actually is in the anthology). They shone against all of the others, and really captured the psychological yet still somehow romantic aspect of things.
Without a doubt, 10/10, 100% one of the saddest things I have ever read. It takes a turn for the worst very quickly, and you'll find yourself rooting for the seme and uke pairing throughout the entire story, despite knowing that there's no way such a pairing can work. Includes some violence, a rather aggressive seme, and an uke who is hopelessly attached to his lover. Made me cry at 5:00 a.m. in the morning ╥﹏╥
What is there to say about this one? Hmm... it's riveting; captivating in a sense that it makes you not want to look away. The psychological aspect of this is clearly present and the usage of "role reversal" is well done to illustrate just how much the passage of time has affected both the uke and the seme.
Based on the play of similar name, "Carmen" uses already existing characters and puts a slightly morbid twist on them, essentially creating a melodramatic yaoi which will probably give you feels you didn't ask for. It's not nearly as dark as others on this list but definitely deserves an honorable mention.
This one is definitely not for the faint of heart. It's another one of Nishin's works, so naturally there's plenty of gore and body horror. Not to say that it isn't good. I definitely recommend this for reading and it's only a one shot so it shouldn't take too long. I added it because it really does fit the "yaoi hell" category, and whether that's good or bad is up to you to decide.
This particular manga is more of a thriller/drama than anything else, so don't come in here looking for nsfw scenes. Beyond that it is a fantastic piece of work that you should all take the time to enjoy and read. Essentially the plot revolves around two boys stuck in a zombie-filled town (the world is not post-apocalyptic, though)—things sort of go downhill from there (cue yandere-ness).
The main character is being stalked. Instead of hating it, he actually kind of... likes it?! The plot of this one is very unique and the dynamic between the protagonist and his stalker is amazing. They both go through such well-thought out character development, and for once--the mc has realistic reactions to the scenario he's in?? What? I can't remember the last time that happened in a yaoi... A worthy read, for sure.
