Scum MLs with Actual Redemption Arcs

ML struggles with a lot of mental health issues. He then meets MC, who looks like the boy he used to always have dreams of and therefore was his only source of comfort. Because of this, he basically love bombs MC. MC fell for him but eventually realizes he was a replacement and leaves. That serves as the catalyst for ML to realize he actually loved MC and he learns how to let go of his dreams/the boy. Redemption and growth on ML’s side

The redemption honestly comes kind of late, but it’s not rushed at least. ML is stupid, even compared to other scum gongs. When he finally changes, he apologizes to MC multiple times, who doesn’t accept any of them. 3 years pass with no contact, and ML works hard trying to become MC’s ideal type. They meet and talk, MC is able to move on from their past and they start dating. ML gets anxious and insecure sometimes and is scared of hurting MC.
