i couldn't summarize this manga as just a romance manga with the princess x bodyguard or childhood friends to lovers tropes or a simple fantasy universe set in a historical period. akayona is a very delicate work, very well written, intriguing, and with great characters. i wish more people knew how beautiful the journey of our protagonist and her found family is.
