This story has a dark/depressing theme to it (gang activity, violence, S.A., etc.), but there’s nothing toxic between the two main characters and their relationship. There’s some tension at first because neither are very sociable and they’ve lead difficult lives, but it ends up being like a Banana Fish situation where they both end up saving each other (plus it actually has a good ending). Really tugged on my heart strings.
