“We shall now begin ethics.” • In time of writing, the end of this manga has just been concluded. Beautifully done. It’s the sort where every chapter follows its own story; Following Takayanagi-sensei, uncovering the different kinds of complex realities of his students. Slowly, we see parts of his complexes too.
“I want to teach the importance of ethics… and that, no matter how well you know it, it doesn’t mean you’ll live a good life.&rdquo
THE CLIMBER • Disconnected to all else, except one — The crippling intensity of vertical walls. It’s the isolation, where existence becomes tied to almost one singular idea.
“I also come to mountains to be free.”
A masterpiece with no end in sight; Despite its status, it cannot (not ever) be considered something less that what it is — a masterpiece.
Simply,
“Invincible is just a word.”
This manga ended up not being for me, but even so, some years later, it still stuck. It’s uncomfortable a… a lot of parts - as it’s meant to be disgusting and problematic — down to the Mc’s nature of being downright unlikable. Simply, just a bad character of nature. It’s fucked up.
“Dreams can kill you” • Takanashi, otherwise known as “the dream crusher”, guides his students through career guidance. Introducing to them the harsh truths of their dreams, and what may come of them; He weighs in what they must consider, and what may be the cost of the dreams they hold high. However, that weight isn’t leveraged until much later — where they realize that his words hold, at least, a semblance of truth.
