Even though it's mostly shounen Ai, i enjoyed the story a lot. And I sympathise with MC's feeling here. He's a beta in a world of Alpha and Omega. He seems to have a low expectations to the world and have his own level of "normal" view towards the value of the relationships, such as Alpha and Omega should be together while Beta should be with Beta. I think it's just a way to protect himself not to get hurt.
