This work of Hijiki-san is THE Omegaverse Manga. Good smut, adorable kids, a growing family, deals with the societal ramifications from the existence of pheromones...this is a great and feel-good manga. It starts from high school and continues on through slices of their life. And I love the dynamic between younger, closed-off Seme who does everything he can for his family vs Uke who balances raising his child, dealing with prejudice from being an omega, and the trauma of his past.
I was surprised by how much I ended up loving this. Seriously, this dynamic is a special kind, since we have the bubbly, extroverted italian su that lives for the highs of life and we have a grounded, stoic korean gong that lives for the goals he sets in life–whether that is to be by su’s side or to build the best racing cars. Not a fan of the dubcon while the two were broken up, but the absolute love they have for each other makes up for it.
This was suuuuuch a good read. Seme is an actor with an amazing talent to captivate fans, one of which is uke, who had a hard time understanding emotions and people until seme came along. The way their lives ended up entwining together is pretty much red thread fate level, especially with they have what the other lacks and gives what the other needs. Perfect wonder-hit combo.
Here is one of the best slice of life manga without any complicated background. The way their personalities portrayed honestly comes off as realistic. It's literally just just two prior childhood friends who end up living together. Seme fell for uke a long time ago and, of course, uke follows suit once he sees how sincere seme is. The way uke catches up to seme is heart-warming. It's actually really impressive, there was no unnecessary drama with the confession. I love their love.
I am...so confused. How tf did I forget how much I loved this manga??? Seriously, when I stumbled across this title again, I had a vague inkling but once I read it, I was like "OH YEAH. THIS ONE IS A FAVE OF MINE. WTF". Goodness. Seme is slightly unhinged and just chaotic about everything, which is exactly why uke and I love him. He faces uke's insecurities head on with logic and love, reminding uke that life is something to be lived.
I dunno what it says about me but of all the boyfriends I've read, Kai-san is the one I'd actually like to have. *cough* anyways, uke is a regular salaryman while seme is a supernatural being with slenderman qualities. Uke is the only being seme has come across that not only accepts seme for what he is, but learns to love seme for who he is. And seme is a super funny and super sweet guy that doesn't fail to make uke smile and cry. Full package, that guy.
Omgggg I loved this so much. Uke and seme live in a world where theriomorphosis–pretty much humans with beast qualities and instincts, almost ABO-like–exists. Seme is a super sweet, gentle giant that ends up getting theriomorphosis FIRST *cough* and uke, as a neighbor who falls for seme, does everything he can to help seme through this transition. If they have to be lonely, they might as well be lonely together.
This one is such a heartwarming shounen ai. The ending was disappointing, but that’s pretty much to be expected of manhwa based off novels. Enough of its essence was captured that you can feel how much their lives are enriched because of each other. Gong’s life has always been dysfunctional, something that su can relate to very well, which is why gong–a character in a novel–is su’s fave. So, once transmigrated, this is su's chance to make gong happy.
Oh my goooosh, another banger from Hijiki-san, dang guys. Uke is born with a mermaid curse and seme, a shaman, is the one to find him beautiful from the getgo. I absolutely adored this one, from the upbeat carp to the grumpy goldfish, from uke and seme's shared traumas and how they find a way to heal each others' wounds. Also the amount of heartbreak I felt with uke begging and crying for friends.
Lovesick and Tired
