s1 was odd and unremarkable; damien was incredibly unlikeable and i lowkey hated him then HOWEVER!! the rest of it is peak. damien is pretty mild as far as red flags go, he just has a degree in yearning (and manipulation but shhh). and chloe my beloved ive never seen a fl actually execute a decent escape plan like her. she loves him but doesn't tolerate his bullshit because she respects herself (mostly). that being said this was like tolerating your friend & her shitty bf</3
how do you forgive the man who murdered you multiple times but detest a man who has done no wrong (never mind that he does go on to wrong her later)? i can accept fl forgiving ml, but i cannot accept how easily she forgives and forgets, much less the hypocrisy of hating kidon and loving sion. even ignoring that, the plot isn't well thought out. so many things are explained away as it just happened bc Plot (eg., her father burning down the orphanage for no reason). also, pacing is awful.
i'm a sucker for time loops where one character goes through hell trying to save someone they love who is doomed. struggling against fate despite knowing it may be futile just for the slightest chance to save them? that's romance baby. they BOTH yearn so badly god it's sickening. all the characters and their relationship dynamics are interesting and integrate so well. and i love love love the art so much.
they're both so obsessed w/ each other. elzay my girl is just an empath, she is literally me lmao she wanted a fictional character so bad she manifested marrying him. i will say that sometimes she's a bit annoyingly helpless and uh a bit lacking in the intellect department. anyway aseph's backstory was horribly tragic and you know what? he had every right to end up as twisted as he is.
a bit of a mess but an enjoyable read still. i love both reinhart and valeta too much to care. tbh i wish reinhart was crazier, he lowkey gets neutered in the end :[
pleasantly subversive of this subgenre but also exactly what i wanted from a reincarnation story. if u ignore the ugly ass annoying ass ml, this is really good. i loved the fl so much, she's smart and logical and kind while standing up for herself when she can. i also loved that the princess (who doesn't conform to what is seen as traditionally feminine) doesn't change!
anyways, og!edith and og!rhyse yuri when.
dropped at ch 91. the plot is really good and complex. however, i ended up disliking both benedict and rania which made it intolerable to continue. benedict is so...privileged and haughty, esp seen with landon and laura. i also don't like womanizers paired w/ a virginal (and weak) fl, i disliked her the most. surprisingly i sympathized w/ the antagonist laura. knowing that the man you love will never choose you so you sully him by whoring him out? she's so intelligent and quick.
i don't feel too strongly ab this either way, it was okay. it's refreshing to get the story from the ml's pov, and i really liked his character ie., characters who present themselves to be kind and agreeable but are actually a little bit fucked up. their relationship was sweet and i liked how cecil was so obviously into her and her only. but bertia did get on my nerves sometimes, she's just so...simple and kinda stupid. ik it's just for laughs but it gets irritating
so well-written that i understood both their perspectives. i cannot hate heiner nor can i hate annette; they are both flawed but no less likeable. i also love that the fl actually left him, and doesn't instantly forgive him bc she loves him. she also shows great character growth by acknowledging and striving to better her flaws. also, heiner isn't trash like most people are saying lmao. yes he's ugly but reducing him to trash when he's just complex ain't it.
an actual villainess regressing and having to come to terms w/ her past cruel actions makes for a much more interesting mc!! dorothea's relationship w/her brother made me sob. her love for theon made my heart break just as much as ethan's did. and don't get me started on ethan god he yearned SO MUCH, he's so loyal and would do anything for her. idk how she ever liked theon when ethan was right there. i didn't like it much after they got together, fluff isn't for me.
