Manga that explore Gender Identity

A lesbian couple talks about the roles that (usually) come with gender and gender presentation.

Asuka is an x-gender (Japanese gender identity similar to "non-binary", but not exactly the same thing) lesbian mangaka and in this manga they tell us their story. Their narration is kinda crude at times and they even talk about their porn preferences so it's not for everyone, but it's definitely an interesting read.

TW: other subjects besides gender and sexuality are talked about so I think I must warn about euthanasia/suicide talk and antinatalism talk in later chapter

The characters in this manga are cisgender, what's interesting about it is their gender expression. The main couple is formed by an androgynous guy who likes things typically considered feminine, and a girl, who while not really "masculine", is not really into those things like makeup and stylish outfits. Other interesting characters show up as the story goes.

Tsushima (the author) married a guy... or so she thought. Turns out Wafuko is a trans woman, and therefore, not her husband, but her wife! Tsushima doesn't mind though, she's bi/pan so if her partner is a man or a woman, it's fine either way! Here she tells the story of her relationship with her wife during her wife's transition.

A very short story (4 pages) about a trans girl who is bullied at school for being a "girly boy", but her sister accepts and respects her as she is.

Chapter 2:

At first, the trans woman character looks like an offensive caricature, and the T slur is used once. However, as you read, you realize it's the story of a lonely woman that faces prejudices and still finds it in her to create beautiful things and help a homeless boy. Give it a chance if you want.

Sanae is a post-op trans woman with many insecurities about herself and how others, especially potential partners, see her. She ends up meeting Sakaki, a police officer that was her classmate and her first crush in Junior High. We follow her story and struggles to talk about herself to Sakaki. This manga has a happy ending and a few sex scenes.

As the title says, it's a manga about a gay boy who turns into a kaiju. The trans character is minor, but he has nice scene, and the overall message of the story is about all LGBT+ people.

TW: homophobia, misgendering, deadnaming

The story is about two kids, a boy and a girl, looking for the girl's real father. One of the main characters, the detective, is a trans woman.

TW: constant misgendering (the detective's little brother keeps refering to her as "big brother". However, she doesn't seem to mind as she also refers to herself as his "big brother" when talking to him.)

While outdated and full of stereotypes, it has interesting concepts such as the fact that for a man to be a man he needs the "heart of a man", and a woman needs the "heart of a woman". The body is not taken in consideration, but what's inside is.
