disgraced director is hired to film a series of explicit video with an actor she traumatized in the past
both perspectives are shared but mainly fl's. feelings are not transparently communicated but you grow to understand their thought processes.
smut with romantic slow burn, show business, mystery
girl who is kind of aimless in life becomes a muse/shoe model for a cobbler
really enjoy the FL in this because she's kind of a go-getter and appropriately confused at her age.
more gratuitous smut, age gap, love triangle (for a bit)
new employee enlists the help of a coworker to get to know her work crush. they eventually start liking each other instead.
LOTS of miscommunication but got me into psychological josei. both perspectives eventually shared, feels a little bit like sally rooney's normal people because of the misunderstandings & the orbiting around each other. people find the FL frustrating but she reacts appropriately to the miscommunication.
tasteful smut, office workers, cheating but not really
woman sees the upstanding guy from her church with a woman who mysteriously disappears. hijinks ensue.
not so much miscommunication, more leaning mystery and the kind of love that blossoms between two people who are misunderstood but understand each other. kind of love-hate in that way as well.
fantasy/supernatural, slow burn, enemies to lovers. the mystery is whether they like each other or if they can't live without each other lol
psychological slow burn about a college student who nearly loses her scholarship to the school's prince. they initially don't like each other but grow to be friends and eventually lovers.
perspective shifts to help you understand their thought characters and motives. the story endures through their initial get-together and throughout their relationship, with flashbacks to their past enemy-ship.
slow burn, campus life, enemies to lovers
aspiring actress stumbles upon an art exhibit comprised of photos taken of her in secret. she gets signed to an agency as part of the unknown artist's wishes.
less romance-focused in this but compelling narrative.
mystery, show business
man who lives his life in subservience in his relationships is taken in by his "owner's" brother and taught to live by his own wishes.
beautiful story about agency and love and the lengths we'll go to secure it.
smut, abuse, trauma, yaoi
boy gets asked to pose as a girl by a wealthy family to deceive the patriarch of the family as part of his final wishes.
slow burn, smut, yaoi, class differences
girl runs into her childhood love when she begins violin lessons for the son of a wealthy family.
honestly not my favorite, probably 6.5/10. the psychological aspects surround FL but don't entirely involve her.
smut, manhwa, age gap, love triangle (square?)
FL dumps her bf for cheating on her and he then dies in an apparent double suicide with the girl he cheated on her with.
not my favorite but still compelling mystery. the romance is subtle, more like strong feelings for each other because of their shared experiences. would give it a 5/10 in terms of complicated romances, more like complicated narrative with hints of romance.
mystery, supernatural, slow burn, smidge of campus life
