A corporate spy is sent to keep an eye on a CEO but immediately gets caught. It's a lot less dramatic than I imagined it to be. It was surprisingly soft (lol for some reason I pictured a lot of angst). Kamina (CEO) seems honest the whole time and I think that's why Makino (spy) fell for him. Despite their circumstances, the way they came to love each other felt pretty natural to me.
Misumi is fuckin' adorable. It's like he doesn't know if he should act like a bottom hoe or an awkward turtle! He's afraid of falling in love because he was made fun of for confessing to a straight guy. Sei is a great match for him. He's blunt but caring, he's not afraid to speak up. Plus he's great in bed and has a big dick (Misumi is happy cuz he likes giving head haha)! I'm glad they're in their 30s. We need more adults.
10/10 comedy. I hope the mangaka makes a 4koma one day, they'd be good at it. This sorta feels like Tarzan. Two guys from completely different cultures learn to communicate despite the language barrier. I bet some people wouldn't like Qalqata's native stereotype. The mangaka didn't make their tribe primitive though. They're actually incredibly capable and intelligent. These two are so sweet. I look forward to reading vol 2!
Another age gap, this time between a high schooler (16-18) and an adult (26). Even though Yamada's so young he definitely acts like an ojisan lol must be the weary stubble look. There's minimal to no drama at all. It's a heart-warming relationship with barely any lustful thoughts. A refreshingly wholesome story that would make you smile.
A wholesome relationship with no drama. As sweet as the cake they're eating in the illustration cover. It's about two gourmet enthusiasts who meet up every Friday. They don't have a lot in common besides their love for food.
The pacing is well done. The romance doesn't feel rushed. They remind me of Yuri and Victor but with eating instead of ice-skating. A palate cleanser if you just finished reading an exceptionally kinky or depressing BL manga.
An unforgettable gem. Twisted, suspenseful, heartbreaking at times but there's a light at the end of the dark tunnel. It's best to read the prequel after the main story to see how their lives were before Itou and Kyosuke got together. A lot of the sex scenes in this story are presented with a sense of wrongness (especially the prequel holy fuck). I'm just glad they managed to go to the island they both longed for. Warning: there is rape, abuse, prostitution, and torture.
Predictable but enjoyable. It's one of those works where its cliché plot is more endearing than annoying. It's a story about a man named Issei who leaps back in time in order to save his lover Ban from dying. He fails again and again, stubbornly jumping in higher locations to go further into the past. It's a story about desperation and sacrifice. I don't like destiny in stories (too cheesy) but the author managed to pull it off brilliantly.
I was a little unsure about recommending this since it had its flaws but I enjoyed it. The dynamic between Mikado and Anezaki was entertaining. I thought it'd turn into the usual blackmail plot but it turns out both of them have blackmail material so it was a friendship born from a stalemate. Rocky start but worth the read.
The gang rape at the alleyway was unnecessary imo. Dude got sexually assaulted twice before finally arriving at Mikado's door. What a night.
An absolute treasure. The dialogue feels natural, especially when they pause and cut each other's sentences. It felt like I was there with them, traveling the countryside during summer vacation, visiting film location sites, waiting out the rain, falling in love. Some parts were predictable but it didn't ruin the experience. If you're into short and mellow stories, you'll enjoy this.
It's hard to describe the feeling I had when I read this but it felt pleasant? Like that warmth you feel after sipping a hot cup of tea on a cold day. There are three stories overall, only two of them had romance while the last one was something akin to an Asian folktale. The narration can be quite poetic at times but it's not bad. I especially love the extra detail on the background art like the mushrooms, the vines crawling on their skin, the fishes floating around etc.
