I've never read anything quite like this, but it was practically perfect. I enjoyed the premise, the characters, the plot, the emotions, the humour and the ending.
(Not sure if this is shoujo but it can be an honorary one if not.)
This manga is what happens when you take a typical high school shoujo, make the MC spunky, sensible and spirited, then add on a whole layer of national-level intrigue and adventure that taps into the tragic backstory of the main chracters.
It's almost perfect in plot, characters, relationships, humour, emotion, intrigue and some action.
It's like you take every perfect-but-arrogant-and-cold-CEO male lead from other shoujo/josei stories and pit him against a high schooler who is constantly taking him down a peg or five. I'm not usually a fan of push-and-pull romances but this couple has the perfect balance of mainly-humour with just enough give from each of the main characters to make you really care about their relationship.
I love this one so much. Really quirky and touching. It's a pity the creator didn't have time to develop the secondary couples' stories in a truly satisfying way.
Possibly my favourite shoujo gender bender? A longer boarding-school romcom with an engaging cast of characters; old school but stands the test of time quite well.
I anticipated that this would become bland and cliche the more it went on, but instead it worms its way deeper into my heart every chapter.
A touch reverse-haremy, and leaves you wishing for just a LITTLE more mushy romancey-stuff in the ending, but really a fun, clever, enjoyable longer shoujo.
