such a wonderful exploration of grief; the different shapes it takes, how it stays with us, and the way someone's life getting cut unexpectedly short leaves so much unresolved. It's a very difficult thing to cope with even as an adult, and I'm glad that we get to see how it affects Asa and Makio in different ways while still being that same pain of losing a family member. Very interesting how that all intersects w/ all the other aspects of their lives as they live together.

a work that's just unspeakable empathetic towards lonely people who've been left behind by society. Old man yuri was 10/10 and I'm not kidding
