A tragic adventure story about perseverance, struggle, and hope. Two children alive during a war desperately struggle to find happiness even despite having lost everything. It has a very sentimental message abt life and humanity. The raw and the sketchy drawings are also especially fitting; they embody the tragic aspect of the situation quite nicely. Overall, an interesting read highly rec<

A classic & engrossing action manga based on the novel "Musashi" by Eiji Yoshikawa, containing fictionalized events of the real life legendary japanese samurai, Musashi Miyamoto. It has god tier art & a classic plotline with a lil philosophical twist thrown in. Caught up 300+ ch in just 2 days when it would usually take me 3 weeks; brilliant work. (tw: rape; [implied pedophilic rape/SA ch 126])

This is a story that progresses from utter prejudice to a complete and heartwarming acceptance. It follows a conservative and traditional japanese father who is meeting the husband of his deceased twin brother for the first time. It highlights preconceptions ppl hv abt lgbtq & showcases social struggles lgbtq face from an outside perspective. its very hard hitting. One of my favs if not my fav gay rep on this site

As a story that revolves around wheelchair basketball, this is more than just a sports manga. It shows 3 men overcoming the heavy obstacles life has thrown at them & the effort it takes to keep moving despite that. -I swear Inoue Takehiko has never written a bad story in his life. This is best rep of physical disabilities (especially in sports) that I've ever read. HIGHLY rec for those with mature tastes. (tw: f slur)

A classic comedy starting off with a boy who joins his school's basketball team to impress the girl he likes, thus discovering his passion for b-ball. As expected of Inoue Takehiko's most groundbreaking work, this was fucking good. The accurate gameplay reflects Inoue's own passion for the sport & made for an especially refreshing read. Highly rec~,,,,,

Everyone should know what this is already. Even if you've watched the movie, this is a Must Read; The storytelling in the manga is waay more fulfilling than the movie. If you haven't watched it yet, read this first and then watch the movie for visuals- probably one of the best things you could do for yourself.

Set in the far future where both robots and humans share the earth, there's a mysterious string of human and robot deaths that begin to surface. A renowned detective robot, Gesicht, is put on the case to discover who is causing these deaths and how to stop them from going any further. A veeery refreshing read. Its nice to take a break from the simple stuff and have smth a lil complex every now and then.

A group of friends dreamed of saving the world, creating scenarios where they would bring justice to evil robot having and virus spreading aliens. Imagine their surprise when 30 years later they find out those dreams were being made into a reality. -This guy is the BEST mystery mangaka to ever grace this earth. Its not even a question anymore. Smh.

I feel like bambino manga would suit your list? It's about cooking, but realistic.
