My favorite BL of all time is the most insane thing I've ever read. It's straight-up ridiculous, surrealist, and overall a story I wouldn't pick normally. But OH MY GOD this is so so funny? It literally got me dying out of laughter many times while reading it! And it's so incredible how touching the story can get at times. It's just so funny! (Ma Sangtae is basically the inspiration for my username, that shows how much I love this manhwa)
Harukaze no Etranger is like fresh air in the genre and romance in general. Very few life stories manage to make me empathize so much with the protagonists to the point that I see them as people that I would know. All of them and all their experiences are so beautiful and human, it's impossible not to love them + I kinda pretend that the prequel don't exist now that I'm thinking about it lmao
Romance and love impact the main protagonists' life constantly but not exactly because of each other, creating a dynamic that makes sympathy look strangely appealing. Jiri had already lost too much and yet he believes he deserves nothing for himself. On the other hand, Yuri wants nothing but attention from the one he loves. Not just anyone, especially not with people like Jiri. When these opposite men meet again in similar circumstances, we can only expect disaster.
Hidaka Shoko can do whatever she wants with me. I'm serious. Sakurai is one of the purest men I've ever read, so kind and unintentionally funny that it's impossible to not fall in love with his quirkiness. Sakurai Kazuaki, despite being a middle-aged man, is not an exception either. It's beautiful to see how these two change their life forever by slowly getting closer and closer to the other. A very romantic and wholesome story.
A freaking masterpiece. The reason why is not my favorite it's because I've other stories with characters and situations that connected and excited me more, but it's indisputable that Saezuru Tori was Habatakanai has one of the most well-developed stories in the genre. The plot never gets boring and is constantly challenging the protagonists, their feelings, and their beliefs. So, so, so GOOD.
Basically, the story follows two middle-aged men entangled in a job that constantly tests their skills and methods, henceforth a one-sided feeling of competence is born but that little by little evolves towards a pure and mature love. I adore Onoe and Kaburagi, they are so cute together. Every situation these two get into, it's an excellent combination of comedy and drama that constantly makes our protagonists grow. Beautiful.
The story doesn't justify the abuse between couples since Kan doesn't forgive himself nor wants forgiveness, he wants to live with what he did all his life but, at the same time, it's impossible for Kan not to fall in love again. The questioning of this character, who is himself a monster, if he deserves another chance while Shuuna, his current partner, lives with what the other did in the past it's extremely suffocating and great. Chaotic.
