Travelling further away from what is mundane, a man encounters horrors.
One of my favorites, but you have to be able to stomach unsettling imagery as that is its main impact.
Relatively underrated due to how obscure the authors are. Their art is more abstract and stories are nonsensical at first glance. Because of its horrifying nature, it caused me to think more about the story. I do also like reading too deeply into things haha
tw: cannibalism, body horror
A story of suffering and hope as the particular Ian explores what the world offers when he attempts to find his sister, told by a reporter who he befriends.
tw: abuse, death, (implied/non graphic) sexual abuse, suicide (attempt)
With high expectations of living wild in the city, a young fashionista attracted to the unconventional attempts to live large despite her situation.
Okazaki Kyoko has a certain charm within most of her protagonists I've read. Callous actions from a selfish world view, which causes interesting situations. Love her work. She's appreciated in Japan but I don't see her much in western conversation outside of Helter Skelter. I also recommend River's Edge and Pink!
An insecure girl easily manipulated by scams ends up becoming an exorcist with a smoking and high fashion addiction. Her influence is the rockstar wannabe ghost that haunts her. As she tries to rid ghost and deadlier possessions, she learns about Korean myths and the lives of the people in need of her help.
Kind of abrupt ending, like the author just wanted to end the story. Still worth reading if you're interested. I really enjoyed it. Cover art doesn't give justice to the actual art
A prim and proper teacher moves to the island he was born in. There. he learns of other ways to interpret the world, especially in a way unexplained by science.
Gorgeous art and gentle storytelling, though I wished there was more
need to reread before giving description. I just remember how I loved the art.
Maki once loved a girl who never saw their relationship as something substantial. As an adult still longing for the past, she happens to meet her again. When the two rectify their close connection, Maki must decide if she should close the gap with a woman who is so desperate to be normal with heterosexual expectations of life.
A good balance between hearting-warming and a brutal world. Surprisingly snuck up on me with its impact
tw: cheating (emotional and physical), abuse (slapping, neglect)
A short cute story on the casual on-goings in the life of Seinosuke, whose procrastination and mundanity is reformed when his store's mascot, a little girl of curiosity, comes to life.
A man makes a living by selling his ability to steal and exchange memories. One day, a little girl comes in looking for her mother.
A boy crawls through to an alternate world where his best friend is still alive and he doesn't exist. Instant favourite.

Hi there 'Absent Minded',
May I suggest this one hidden gem manga that you might enjoy and perhaps even want to include in this list of yours?
It's called: "Tsuki to Kin no Shangri-La".
Link:
http://www.mangago.me/read-manga/tsuki_to_kin_no_shangri_la/
Others have left topics and or commented on "how come this manga doesn't have more votes, viewers/readers, star ratings, or just plain general attention" and they state it majorly due to "the cover or art style" however I (along with other readers who have actually given it a chance) have ended up greatly enamored with this manga. I actually find the cover quite pretty and find nothing really wrong with the art style; in fact it's even detailed in a sense.
Anyways, please excuse my long rant and I hope you enjoy my recommendation for your list.
Maybe even let me know what you think of the manga??
Happy Reading!
Sincerely,
~ floraヾ(❀╹◡╹)ノ~
Sorry for the late reply but of course! I'm always ready to hear recommendations (=・ω・=)
