what do you want to define as beauty? is a silent, still, framed oil painting art if it simply a depiction that longs for realism? is it human effort that makes it art?
this work is art to me. abstractly personal. reflective and just simply, you need to live to understand what’s communicated. to grasp life as if you aren’t supposed to die now—my mercury felt empty to me, lifeless because the characters were hopeless themselves, it was a sense of abject and immediate understand
i love how unexpectedly warm and lively this is. it brings to mind the small intimate moments of life; observing the breath of air that leaves you in a cold night, relishing the warmth and love contained in a tight hug, appreciating the music that flows through your ears on a train ride. this manga embraces you, wraps you up in the veracity and wholeheartedness of life, infusing you with the simplicity of being loved for every bit of who you are.
it is vicious. and out of the types of viciousness there can be, this manga collects all. the quiet kind (partita no. 6 in e minor: i. toccata, bach,) which kills you on how you should have trusted that uneasiness creeping through your veins, the incendiary type roaring and screaming in despairing tragedy, the normal one that emulates an alarm that was kept close in case of attackers in the dark which is normal in its abnormality. this was brilliant and gods, i love ogawa chise so much.
i love this with my everything.
the unreserved hilarity, vibrant characters (so well created to suit the tone of the manga), communication & its complication befitting of a teenager (insecurities, anxiety) as well as the consent being an absolute necessity and well demonstrated, how words told during childhood have a lasting impact, how there are queer people all around plus the allies that get it immediately, this work is beautiful. i wish all my fellow queers can read this. esp. young one
a lonely and lilting depiction of suicide and depression, through visual metaphor.
this is everything i needed for a fluff type of manga!! communication? check. chemistry between the couple? off the charts. good art? expressive characters and good flow for sex scenes. characters? they’re so lively and cute i just want to cry. conflict and worries? solved by growth of the character and with a message to readers along with support and love from friends and family aka... a great support system.
ALL IN ALL: a healthy relationship and a genuinely good manga that draws reade
fireworks are known to have a blinding light, they burst across the sky and give us a spectacle but they are gone soon and we forget them.
similarly, this works strobbed but unlike momentary givings, i know this work will stay. it’s beautiful, from the motif that wraps this work all around, to the placing of objects that aren’t captured within the panels and instead burst forth.
when we see photographs they are still. this moves along with a vigour hoping to invigorate us with its
cw/tw it’s the age old mangaka keeps saying the bisexual guy is straight... i’m considering that as biphobia
other than that, the contentment and happiness that wells up inside of me after reading is a feeling unique to romance between adults. to be more specific this work though; with its characters that so many of us can identify with, the feelings raw and wistful and tender conveyed through the ink on the page, the growth & strength everyone holds. revolutionary love,
the shedded tears accumulated over the time of our life may very well be an ocean. the loneliness and sorrow, melancholy and depression we fall into is never an uncommon experience. but what can we possibly feel that ever counters the magnitude of emotions and depth of feelings of an immortal?
within this story is love. brilliantly displayed as a continuation, a provocation, a impetus to candidly exist.
