for me, this manga is definitely one of my absolute favourites and i generally think this is a phenomenal manga. hands down a hidden gem in sports manga. the art is really pretty and the story is straightforward but extremely well written. the characters are also extremely fleshed out and explored nicely, and the development is really incredible. there are very small elements of romance, but it doesn't ruin the story, it's actually quite nice. i can't recommend this enough
daiya no ace is one of the best sports manga ever written, easily. daiya has some of the best character development i have ever seen, as well brilliant writing and an amazing line of characters. the story takes it's time to really flesh out the characters, allowing you to really get to know and understand them, and the pacing is just perfect. if you just like sports manga, this one is perfect for you - no matter what sport you like, i encourage you to read this gem
sequel to diamond no ace
especially for the eijun lovers (like me), this manga's definitely for you - to be honest, this manga is a little better in terms of art, written and characters it's like a levelled up version of the prequel, so without question read this after reading the first manga. without saying too much or spoiling, we get to see out characters improve their skills even further and we see some beautifully written characters. a brilliant sequel that surpasses the prequel
blue lock a crazy good manga, i can't recommend this enough.
if you want the intense "shounen-like" thrill you get from your shounen/action manga but in sports, blue lock is it. bllk goes above and beyond to bring thrilling chapters time and time again. the characters and the art truly make this manga special - the character are very unique and bring lots to the story (even without being explored deeply, they are incredibly interesting) and the art is just gorgeous. a MUST read
it's no mistake that haikyuu instantly lands a spot. it is not a popular manga for nothing. although i feel like everyone knows about this manga/anime, but i still strongly recommend, the messages are really motivating and inspiring, while the storyline and art are high quality.
hq focuses more on learning and growing from defeat and improving with each win, more than the actual victories itself (if that makes sense). also gives some characters time to really shine.
a football manga that got overshadowed by blue lock.
they're very similar but ao ashi is slower, takes time to really flesh out the characters and more realistic vibe, so if you want to read an exciting sports manga that goes into depth with the characters, shows them improving their skills, hitting hurdles, growing and improving and so on, this is for you. there's elements of "romance" but it's approached in an interesting way and doesn't hinder the story at all
this is only a one shot but it surprised me how well written this is. while there is not nearly enough time to properly flesh out characters or find out more about the storyline (and so on), this one shot really captivated you from start to finish. it is more on the unique side (ice hockey) but it is quite funny and an enjoyable read. i actually felt a little sad that there wasn't more. has so much potential, but it is still worth the time.
