really top drawer!

refreshing josei, despite it being built on a tragic premise. a clumsy but kind older sister loses her beautiful younger sister to cancer way too young, and ends up dating her sister's former fiancee. there is a lot about individuality, sexuality, reasons to live, and how family ties don't have to define us. it's really well written, subtle but not confusing, has decent art, and there are some heart-wrenching moments. well-done.

It's Mr. Machida-kun's Neighborhood. Machida is a caring, thoughtful person who thinks of everyone as family and treats them with love, respect, and kindness. It's also about his new relationship with a girl, and discovering romantic love for the first time. The message is wonderful, and not too heavy handed, and the art is great. My only quibble is it ends a little abruptly, but it does wrap up the loose ends. Seinen/slice of life.

Studious guy and his frivolous friend and how their relationship develops and changes around the end of WWII. Well-written, the sex seems genuinely loving and the feels are real, esp at the end. Art very similar to yoneda kou.

Ok, that was adorable. Scary face but sincere artistic student meets gorgeous but damaged student and they develop a relationship based on mutual respect and acceptance. The scenes are loving and full of connection as well as feeling erotic, which is so refreshing. Great art, great couple.

This author is such a delight. Collector guy who lacks social graces meets a guy who has never really experienced personal desire. Both characters were written so well, and I was very much pulled into their emotional orbit. Beautiful art, lovely feelings between flawed, interesting, but plausible, people. The extras are hilarious, as well.

Best by this author. The last page is worth waiting for and made me tear up a little. About self-discovery, acceptance, and starting a relationship out of order. Nice art, rather sweet.

So Zaria is not just a hardcore sex goddess, she can write characters and plots really well. Love the discussion, the angst feels real, and them addressing their orientation in terms of bisexuality instead of straight or gay only. So freaking sexy. Great art, as always.
