I feel bad for Sudou

Mojo June 18, 2017 1:52 pm

I know he is foolish and basically digs his own grave, but on top of everything he just wants Asami's love, who becomes more and more impossible for him to reach.
He must be dying from envy... Even when he is severely wounded, all he can think of is Asami. Worse than physical injury, his heart is bleeding seeing Asami only cares about Akihito's condition after Aaron's attack and stands by his side all the time. Even Aki understands his pain, hence he always holds himself back from talking about Sudou's craziness in front of Asami so that he wouldn't lash out his wrath to the poor guy. Stupid guy, but pitiful, still.

Sudou deserves the backlash, but no punishment is more agonizing than love unreciprocated. He and Akihito are type to cling and cry on Asami's arms, only Aki gets more attention everytime he gets hurt, something Sudou can only dream of. I don't have heart to see him being taken advantage by Asami's rivals ╥﹏╥

He's in the wrong, but true.. he still cared for Asami. Look at his expression when he's told that Asami's apartment was attacked by unknown people. He looks very guilty and worried.

Asami can have such an effect on people... it's like nobody can really hate him.

He. Tried. To. Kill. Akihito. No sympathy.

Not to mention, he betrayed Asami, stole from him, and kept on doing it even after being given a second chance. He isn't foolish. He's a lying, betraying, criminal attempted murderer. His heart should be fucking bleeding. He isn't pitiful. He knowingly brought this all on himself.

Akihito cried in Asami's arms because he'd been kidnapped and shot. Not because he'd been caught doing something wrong! Akihito deserves the attention because 1) Asami loves him and 2) he's a decent human being. If Sudou wants that kind of attention from anyone, he should maybe stop stealing, lying and trying to kill people. And doing all three badly, by the way.

Sudou, a classist snob who thinks Akihito isn't good enough for Asami, should check himself. If you want to play with the big boys, you need to have the skills. Sudou was stepping way up and class and he got deservedly burned.

I feel bad for him, too, and, seriously, he was put into a trap by Asami's enemies to make him spill all the secrets of the organization. Pitiful guy, indeed.

He willfully engaged in betraying Asami. Nobody "put" him in a trap. He knew exactly what he was doing. If he's pitiful, he's pitifully stupid.

Anon! I was missing you, so today is my lucky day! No, my Anon friend, if I understood well the story, most part of Sudou's illegal activities were done with Asami turning a blind eye on them because those didn't harm the business (maybe were useful, like blackmailing politicians using beautiful prostitutes). This is what I think.

I just think his wrongdoing has a lot more to do with his stupidity and bad judgment than vileness, I mean it's easier to hate pure low life like Sakazaki. He doesn't have consideration to Aki or Asami whatsoever, while Sudou still has heart eventho his blind love to Asami certainly doesn't serve him anything.
And to think Akihito even can sympathize with him... Uh.. in the English version manga, Sudou frigging molests him when Aki is kidnapped, but Aki knows he does that most likely while fantasizing Asami. The guy is desperate. And I can feel the despair.

I also think of OP as background. Sodou is unstable and deserves punishment, but not death. A second possibility. Unpaid love can lead to madness in a weak mind; But that's right, "No," Sodou was wrong to kidnap and kill Akihito. In this I must admit that even Feilong is wrong, wrong, wrong. However, it is good to remember that Asami is a gunman, a kidnapping and a rapist, so he can not do anything to anyone. He has improved over time just because he loves Akihito.

Asami didn't turn a blind eye. He confronted Sudou and gave him the opportunity to come clean. When Sudou lied, Asami had Kuroda investigate. See chapter 48. And Asami openly disapproved of Sudou's dealings with Kouyama. See chapter 44.

And yes, there's only one anonymous and I am all of them. Mwa ha ha ha.

The first time Aki sees him with Asami in front of the hotel, I know I won't able to hate Sudou fully. Asami never look at him twice, eventho he loves him just as much as Aki does (or arguably even more). If you put it this way, it is sad actually.

This is the one I was waiting for. Low life Sakazaki who has no consideration for Aki. Except for not trying to murder them. and Sakazaki showed considerable heart by saving Sudou from assassination in the hospital and in the last chapter, he's very worried about Sudou.

So...hmm...what could be the difference that makes people think Sakazaki--who is nothing worse than a sleaze--is an irretrievable villain but murderous betrayer Sudou is a poor pitiful misunderstood cuddlebug? It's pretty obvious y'all are so willing to turn your morals into pretzels for a pretty face.

It's obvious that Asami knew about Sudou's collateral businesses, but Asami didn't like he was exposed with that photo and the link with the shady politician exposed too. Sudou exaggerated because of greediness, without paying attention of the kind of criminals he was involving with. He looked really worried when Sakazaki told him about the attack of the condo.
Don't be that obvious Anon, I can recognize your fur and your tail from miles^^

Yes yes yes, I can't bring myself to fully disdain Sudou because all other leading characters have done wrong as fatal as him if not more in a way or another, and arguably also in the name of love; only they are more powerful or smarter.

Sudou's main problem is his obsession to Asami but he is out of his league, all of his efforts only drive him further from Asami. He has to learn to acknowledge his own blunder s, but I won't forgive anybody make use of Sudou while fully knowing what a wounded dog he becomes.

Let's say that the prospect to take is that of Akihito: blame but pity. I must also say that Akihito is really a 100% positive character. I admire him a lot, he can feel pity feelings for those who hurt him, he's really an exceptional guy.

Come on, guys! Sudou loves Asami more than Aki does? That's a ridiculous statement. What are you basing this on? Take a cool, detached look at what we know about Sudou. He is a snob. He's obsessed with status and money. Asami possesses both. That is all we've been shown that Sudou desires about Asami. That's not love. There's nothing sad in a shallow climber not getting what he wants and then throwing a tantrum about it and trying to kill an innocent. Come on.

All the other leading characters have done fatal wrong? What has Aki done? What has Kuroda done? Sakazaki? Oh, wait. That's right. He's hairy. Positively criminal offense.

It is always sad when a person searches in the eyes of another the recognition of their value. It's not love, it's true. It Is obsession. It means not having a personality. Sodou must be forgiven? No. He must be punished, he must go to jail, must deserve Asami's hatred and his contempt, but not death, in my opinion. A cure from a psychoanalyst, too.

    LF June 18, 2017 3:21 pm

I did not read Pray Abyss, so correct me if I'm wrong. I think I understand Sakazaki knowingly, shrewdly and rationally exploits Sodou's madness for his own purposes. this is true? If not, I apologize; If yes, then this is an odious action.

I'm not convinced that Sudou's motivation was poor self esteem as much as it was vanity and greed. Again, that's not sad. Does he deserve to die? No. I just find this effort to recast him as a misunderstood victim ridiculous and kind of gross.
