I do completely agree with you, but the law in Japan (And most countries) are ones of those that will punish kids very lightly. I, personally, find that unacceptable and I do like to believe that most people do so. And as I believe that they do, I do wonder why the law about things like these haven't changed up to this day. ..but the worse is when they aren't just fully aware of what they have done, but they are fully-fledged adults who have kids themselves. I remember a case (either North America or England) where a couple left their two daughters to be nursed by a woman. That woman seemed to be a very good mother. The oldest child (14) was brutally raped day and night. Not just that, but also tortured by the caretaker and also her children. They would burn her, beat her, as if she was a punching bag, and make her eat her own feces. The youngest one never said or did anything out of fear of being the next target. It lasted for (I don't remember clearly, but I'd guess a year or so) quite a long time. No one ever trying to help the poor thing. Even though they knew something was happening. Even their older sister, who lived close by and was married, did not help them. The worst? That woman's sentence. She was actually released on parole after 20 years or so in jail. Her four children? Never arrested. That poor girl was tortured in, perhaps, an even way as the case of this japanese girl. And they never went to jail. People are focusing on the wrong things to be changed. The only decent thing that came out of all of this is the fact that a foundation was created in the name of the deceased girl and the oldest daughter (of the caretaker) works there as a volunteer to pay for her crimes.
