Miss the early art when Shuichi atleast looked old enough to consent.
The anime is better because the directors took a manga with barely any semblance of a plot and adapted it into something that almost had a story.

that whole Shuichi being a replacement for a dead guy thing was such a blindside for the author literally just completely giving up on writing during that America arc. The story was so bearable until then. And for no reason at all they have that whole "everyone is changing and growing" scene only for Shuichi to stay a total idiot failure to the VERY END.
So okay, I watched the anime when I was like 13 and was one of the first shows that introduced me fully into BL, honestly I never expected the manga to be such a MESS, that and unhinged. The anime really tricked me all thos years thinking it was more into absurd comedy, not psychological suffering with mechas and crude jokes all over the place. What a woman you are Maki Murakami, Gravitation is an unique experiencia, even tho a lot of manga from the 90's and 20's are CRAZY theres a lot that stands out here.
Yuki Eiri is probably one of the most engaging "semes" out there, how much his personality changes drastically because of his trauma , and how he comes into terms with it at the end, him being bitter, angry, but still having the capacity to care and change was a wild ride, I remember not being into Yuki much when I was younger, but oh boi, after looking how cute and vulnerable he can be I get the charm, he just wanted love without being seen just as a sex object. I liked how he openly went to a Psychiatrist, amazingly enough, this manga shows that you can't cure this stuff with the power of love and even jokes about the idea, even when the story took weird takes on certain stuff, all the characters surprisingly grew healthier and more open minded, like Tohma letting go of Yuki to take care of his wife and kid, Fujisaki being so square and calling everyone pervert for being gay, Yuki's internalized homophobia and guilt. Not perfect but I recognize the effort.
Shuichi and the gang are so crazy lol, but we love them for it, and you know they got each others backs, if they have to go to hell and back for one of their members, they'll do it, they'll joke and trash around, but they'll do it. Full respect on that.
So, yeah, basically if you have a soft spot for this idiots, the manga is more than worthy giving it a try.
What did I just read. How tf is shuichi okay w yuki still being in love with the guy HE killed bc the dude took advantage of him and tried to rape him? And yuki is just frustrating in general… but then the way shuichi is ALWAYS such a pushover for him as well? And this is how it ends? Give me back my time
I dunno if my memory is just really effed or smth but I could NOT even get through reading this, like I watched the anime and for some reason I do not remember it being as bad as this and the amount of people I've heard say the manga was better. Did we read the same manga??? Cause when I read this shit the rape took me tf out, I couldn't even. I dunno, I know the seme in the anime acts like a dick but I could take it, but there was just so much going on here, it like almost left a bad taste in my mouth and I'm blocking out this manga entirely from my memories now.
The story made my laugh a lot but dude fuckkk yuki also everyone glossing over the fact that shuichi was r/pd just for his sake made me so mad. Yukis ass was playing all these games and then got upset when shuichi was finally paying more attention to his music career rather than him, when he literally never showed him any genuine affection before and constantly said stuff that implied he didnt even have feeling for shuichi at all. Shuchi's personality went from some silly but stubborn and stand-his-ground type of guy to a submissive simp
I had wanted to reRead this until I realize I'm missing some volumes in my set. Wonder If I'll remember who borrowed. Damn.. Still one of the series that makes you laugh non-stop
you know what i hate? i fucking hate uke's with zero self respect and i fucking hate seme's who are absolutle garbage and trash and this story has both!! i watched the show and it is fucking infuriating how the seme keeps on stepping on the uke while the uke would melt at the slightest bare minimum of an affection that he would get from him! and what is worse is that all the uke's friends are encouraging his behaviour!!!!!! like fucking hell they see him being tossed around like trash and they do not tell him yo break it of with the dude!! my advice for you is to not waste your time on this and do not watch the show

10000% agree!!! I adore the style of the early volumes but it just goes downhill into the shota uncanny valley
