Bro Tsukasa is a BIG REDFLAG and DELUSIONAL at first when I was young I thought this is so romantic n all...but now that I read this again and a total teenager now, its not romantic. He literally hired people to RAPE mc, on top of that he nearly RAPE her. They are not DATING at first, he is DELUSIONAL thinking mc likes him. HE GOT NO RIGHTS TO GET ANGRY WITH MC AT FIRST AND NEARLY RAPE HER, mc didnt say anything that she likes Tsukasa. He is assuming things that mc like him. He's getting angry every goddamn minute and and HE'S NOT APOLOGIZING TO MC WHEN HE'S THE ONE WHO DID SMTH BAD TO MC. He is so childish, idk im still reading this. I hope het got better soon.

BTW can someone pls reupload the vol 5-6?? I cant understand a thing..

These are the characters that formed my love for toxic couples…. I love the anime so much I really do, THeYrE so cute idc I know they’re so toxic but idk.
(I don’t apply this to real life at all! I know fiction is fiction EVen when I was little I knew their relationship was toxic and I would’ve hated someone like him)

God, it's been years since i first read HYD but I always come back to reread it every year and still feel the emotions i did way back then. Hands down my favorite shoujo manga despite how problematic it is

i think my heart just broke knowing that rui truly loved tsukushi but never could have her. same with tsukushi’s best friend and how she loved one of the other boys. ╥﹏╥

they was toxic asf and super problematic but it was addicting like a drug

Even though it's problematic af , it's a classic. The manga which set the popular tropes for other shoujo mangas and the popular kdrama boys over flowers which inturn set up some popular yet problematic kdrama tropes. I love it so so much ughh

The reason he was so evil to her at first was because originally he was not supposed to be the love interest but an antagonist.

Rui was the actual love interest and that’s why at first he gets all the scenes and moments with Makino.

Somehow Tsukasa surpassed Rui in popularity. Probably because of the humorous moments such as his trouble with words and obvious crush on Makino that he initially kept denying.

I’m sure if the author could rewrite the early chapters and change stuff to make him less evil in the beginning she would have. It feels so jarring because it wasn’t written with the rest of the story in mind.

One reason I loved this manga is because of how different it was to other shoujo. The girl here is abusive, but she gets it back just as bad. Slaps etc there is no leeway for her just because she is a girl which I loved.

The romance here is amazing and characters are all well developed. It's simply a classic.

I remember reading this and enjoying it until they literally dragged her behind a car...

When I was younger, about 10 or so (before I started watching anime) I used to be obsessed with this wattpad story that was "heavily inspired" by HYD. I absolutely loved the story and though I was aware of the source material for some time, I didn't pick it up until now. My point is, there are a lot of issues with this story that makes it more enjoyable when you read it at a fairly naive and oblivious phase of your life. As much as I wanted to continue reading it due to nostalgia, I couldn't. I left it on hiatus for a couple of months and I really don't have any incentive to continue it, lol. I'll just add this to my "already read" list and remember it from the romanticized perspective of my 10 year old self.
