Reminds me of Hannibal, the final volume of the Silence of the Lambs series. Actually, the post script of that book is exactly like the ending of this series. As an author finishes a story, the characters eventually gains a real life of their own outside the control of the author.

The story with the author was awesome. However it should have been longer. There were a lot of unanswered questions.
