Well yea, the romance is very subtle. Basically we know kaoru has feelings for her because he found her cute when he realised she's jealous of katakura. they just focused on the main point of the manga, where one can transform in who they want to be with hard work...

A little disappointing... the story is beautiful but too short and the scenario remains flat .. it lacks depth.
