Why does the main guy always die in historical things... like this book "Ophelia "by Lisa Klein the main guy prince hamlet dies plus she gave birth to hamlets son ... as the same goes with this story

I know right? It's probably to show that women have strength even without the help of men, but honestly I really wish it would be all happy ending instead

He died because it was a real story from history although i also wished that they would have changed the story and made him stay alive

Well in the past, even now it is shown that men died earlier than woman. I also was curious onto why they always died but apparently during that period, heart diseases were the main cause especially for men. And I think stress is really why they always die. In these stories, the men are royal and are always working, not to mention he had to worry over his wife being disrespected in his own home. The medicine was definitely was not up to par like now so when he was in the rain or snow, getting over a cold was not easy. Being this was based on a true story, changing the story or alternating a bit wouldn't do the original story justice (im only guessing).
