Here's my opinion on the events of the latest chapter; Shikitani's friend acted much more affectionate than one would expect of a platonic freind, and inadvertedly led Shikitani on. Unfortunately, when Shikitani acted on his feelings, he came on too strong and scared him. And when the dust settled, his freind tried to steer things safely back into "just friends" territory. But there are some things you just can't reset.
Here's what I think of the friend; I think that maybe he did have some sort of unconcious feelings for Shikatani, but he was in no way ready to acknowledge that. I don't blame him for getting scared in that moment, but I do think he overreacted a little.
As for Shikatani, I don't blame him for wanting to leave. He may have come on too strong, but in that moment he was at his most vulnerable. And the way his freind reacted stabbed him right in the heart. There's no way the two of them can go back to the way they were.
