The first pair was abusive enough to make me uncomfortable but I really liked Toki x Harumi.

Naruse Series. Good, funny, but somehow unsatisfying...no emotional catharsis...

The emotional intensity of this story comes from all the things I never liked in the romances of my childhood - possessive rape, Stockholm syndrome like co-dependency, violent jealous rape, no one being honest but suffering for how they think they're 'supposed to be'. Ugh. Still, it kept me engrossed and I read it all. But it felt suffocating.
