Once upon a time, the land was engulfed in complete darkness. The King of Light, who lived in heaven, wanted to create a nation of light on the land. He sent out his royal son, Rain of the Rainbow, to the King of Darkness, Zebb. The two instantly fell in love and did the opposite of what the King of Light wanted: they began living happily in the land of darkness. Suddenly, Rain goes missing one day...?!

This collection of short stories features wandering gods who enrich the land. During their travels, they observe humans and sometimes fall in love. If that affection is returned, the gods take the human form of the one who loves them. Yato is a minor god whose dream is to have a lot of followers worshiping him and praying to him. Unfortunately, his dream is far from coming true since he doesn't even have a single shrine dedicated to him. To make things worse, the only partner he had to help him solve people's problems, has just quit the job. His godly existence and luck just might change after he stumbles upon Iki Hiyori and saves her life—a feat which also leaves her in quite a predicament as she is stuck with him until her problem gets resolved. Together with Hiyori and his new partner/weapon Yukine, Yato will do everything he can to gain fame, recognition and just maybe, one shrine dedicated to him.

Momozono Nanami’s dad, a man with a penchant for gambling, disappeared after accumulating a huge amount of debt. Thus, she was chased out of her house by the debt collectors. When she met a timid man being chased by a dog, he told her that he’d give her his house. She believed his persuasive talk, but when she went to his house… it turned out to be a shrine. Moreover, a guy with fox ears appeared, which made Nanami even more confused. What will become of homeless and confused Nanami?

Businessman Yaotomi Eiju lives a charmed life, having been blessed with uncommon luck ever since he was young. But one day all his good luck vanishes as if it had never existed, and misfortune starts to dog his every step. Heeding the advice of those around him, Yaotomi makes a trip to pay bumbling respects to a Jizo on the way home from work. “Surely this will help somehow,” he thinks as he heads home. When he arrives, he finds a strange man there who announces, “I am a god of misfortune,”—?! And so, with a little coercion, these two men begin to live together…
