Reese is a former police officer, who retired after his partner was murdered. Traumatized by the event, Reese changes his career path, eventually working at a book store. He catches Jimmy, pick pocketing on the train one day. After threatening Jimmy to change his ways, Reese blackmails Jimmy into helping out at the bookstore for a day. Frustrated, Jimmy follows Reese home, later breaking into his house, to steal whatever valuables he can find. When Jimmy comes across Reese's retirement watch from the police station, he panics and leaves empty handed. Feeling guilty, Jimmy seeks Reese out at the bookstore. Surprised by his attraction to the much older Reese, Jimmy takes a job at the bookstore just to be near Reese.
