It's nice but with how their conversation went it kinda felt like he'd fall out of love with him if he actually couldnt recover from his injury. That or his bf just doesnt want him to think of the worst case scenario, but mehhh. The message here is janky, it'd be better if there was more to it. Yea I re-read it just to make sure I wasnt making shit up, mans literally said he only knows and loves the him who plays basketball the most, Idk bout you but it's best if you love your partner fully and not specific parts about them wtf???
