Ani no Senaka
Yuki acts like the perfect wife for Keiichirou, his late sister's husband, preparing his meals, tidying his clothes—which is why Keiichirou wants him to stick around—doing everything except sleeping with him. He wants to, but Keiichirou doesn't know that, and he will never know as far as Yuki is concerned. Yuki's already got a job lined up in Osaka after he graduates (even though his professor and fellow students also want to marry him) and that hours-long commute is the best way of keeping what he sees as an inappropriate love to himself. So far, a lively and engaging story with a tragic past and beautiful art.
Yuugure no Machi
Series of vignettes based around the unlikely romance between cupcake yakuza loan shark enforcer and hetero, Asahi, and Kanna, an old schoolmate who ended up as a male prostitute in Soapland. Loneliness is the key to their cohabitation, but there isn't much indication of it, or why it draws them to each other. It's a premise I enjoy, and it would've been nice to see more of it in the story prior to their getting it on.
Kodomo no Iibun
Fourth installment in the Mainichi Seiten series about the all-gay Obinata household. In this one, Shouu's unflinching honesty about his relationship with Yuuta causes his adopted son to come face-to-face with the traumas of his past and how he was formed by them. Unable to cope, he runs back to the neighbourhood of his youth, leaving everyone behind ... even Mayumi?
Yume no Kuni in My Darling
Hilarious, with none of bitterness or bite that Abe Akane usually adds. A young gay man falls for a writer who's so off in his make belief dreamworld that the real world barely exists for him, and provides care for him like looking after a toddler. Things change when the clueless writer phones up a call girl in order to relieve some tension.
Touch Blue
Junya is now the older stepbrother of Kyouichi, a rich young man who gave him his handkerchief and a warm drink one night, ten years prior, when Junya was crying on a park bench. Now, they are rooming together as their newlywed parents honeymoon in Europe, and the tension between them is growing with each accidental touch. A fresh and natural story with no rough edges.
Dorobou Neko ni wa Nusumenai
Quickly improvisation saves salaryman Ryouji's freedom after his wallet is stolen by a cat and his chase leads him into the vacant apartment of a lonely man who arrives home drunk just as Ryouji starts to search. He calls himself a cat, and this is accepted at face value by his new "owner" who calls him Kotorou and treats him like a pet. A fun story, but Ryouji never gets his money back.
