Best Ending?
A series of short stories by Mio Junta: (1) A waiter with an unpleasant personality attempts to mimic the Prince character in his sister's role-playing game and snags himself an actor who comes with a surprise twist. (2) A serious swimming teacher finds himself learning some fast lessons from a grocery store clerk who knows more about kids than he does. (3) A young man experiences insecurity when he notices how attractive his lover is.
Shisei Gokumon
A series of comic oneshots. (1) The ox-headed demon and horse-headed demon are twins who guard both sides of the Gate of Hell, admitting souls and guarding the exit. As such, they seldom see each other, but their longing grows with every glimpse. (2) A king asks a knight to initiate his son, Prince Hal, in swordsmanship. (3) A winsome, but unlikely duo, of host and gardener play off an exchange of gratitude and favours to each other. Kuku Hayate's style is completely unique and her stories always refreshing and different, although sometimes (like with the Prince Hal story), they can lapse into embarrassing cringe territory. Still, the goodnatured fun overrides everything else.
Spotlight Lover
Series of short stories: (1) Nioujima Kou is a popular television star, who harbours huge insecurities, and Kouyagi Masaru is the new director in charge of his show. Can Masaru help Kou overcome his fears? (3) Shimon, an actor, always stands in his genius father's shadow. Haru is a stray cat-type who he uses to work out his frustrations, but Shimon doesn't treat Haru well and only realizes his worth when he is gone. What will he do to get Haru back?
Itoshii, To Iu Koto
Three short stories whose primary linking theme is desire, on the part of the seme, to the point of possessiveness, whether the uke is sought by other men or monopolized by his work. The response is occasionally violent, and usually demanding — not really my cup of tea, but consistent throughout. The artwork is incredibly beautiful, whether contemporary or historical, just enough to transcend the rough handling of the stories themselves.
Tameiki No Ondo
Two very different one-shots. (1) A highschooler blackmails his tutor into sex by threatening to reveal that he has a crush on his older brother. This one has a spectacular plot twist and is very engrossing. (2) Zany comedy about a highschooler who spends so much time chasing after an unrequited love, he completely neglects to notice someone who is in love with him. The first story is much more absorbing than the second, but it doesn't look as though this collection of short stories is going to be finished since it hasn't been updated in forever.
sefure ijou, koibito miman!
PWP yaoi. Characters are forgettable. Great big gushes of moisture everywhere which feels really unsanitary, but the art is otherwise mostly attractive.
Dame na Yatsu Hodo Kawaii
A series of short stories about lovers who aren't interested in being high achievers, but in living a free-spirited life with the men they enjoy. There is something quite fresh and clean-feeling about these stories, even when the stories are simple.
