Detective making the best of the nightmarish ability he gained through personal tragedy: he can read thoughts of people/objects with a single touch. His newly gained assistant tries to cope with a seriously engimatic boss who claims to be afraid to touch other humans yet flings himself from time to time into the arms of a suspect - and mysteriously solves the case in doing so.
