It was a great manga, I liked how it didn’t explain much, didn’t feel the need to tell the readers about a cure. The story is obscure, and the storytelling is really nicely done. Though I feel like I encountered the thought that Kirie was the ‘chosen one’, the main reason for this belief is because throughout the story, she witnesses horrendous things, but she doesn’t go mad. The madness that has everyone enraptured around her doesn’t affect her, the only thing that disturbed her was the hair spirals. Although, I think this played a humongous roll for the story not to get boring, if she had suffered and wasn’t as headstrong, this manga would be boring, as she would be looking desperately for answered and a non-existent cure. ~ Overall, I didn’t think of this as horror, more like weirdcore. I read this so quickly because I wanted to get it over with… Either way, thank you for all your hard work.

This was an amazing manga for me to read, it was very unsettling, my favorite part of it was the mountain humans. I really liked how this was something that was explained to give the person an unreasonable need to enter their hole, though I don’t like when the MC to the story went into his hole, he knew what would happen, he even had a dream for gods sake!! I understand that they portrayed the holes to seem enticing to the ‘owner’, but it seemed that he was very emotionally strong, so it didn’t make much sense to have him enter the hole. I was ok with the main story because the art was amazing, and the details were great, but I hated how Junji Ito portrayed the girlfriend. I have also heard that he makes his work more unsettling by making it somewhat realistic, but the main story was anything but. ~ Overall, I enjoyed it thoroughly, I’m not the biggest fan of Junji Ito’s work, so I can’t really be concerned with it all, but the best way I can describe my feelings is just amused but also bored, it makes me have a hole in my stomach, not the one you feel when you’re scared or weirder out, but a suffocatingly boring sort of feeling. It wasn’t refreshing and didn’t really make me feel the horror that was supposed to happen (since his work is horror), it just felt like weircore. Either way, thanks for the hard work and I hope to see good horror from Junji Ito (I love his art style).

Gets the point across. I though it would be a cute GL but I don’t mind, I actually entertained myself with this really nicely. It’s such a interesting concept, it’s short and concise but leaves you wondering but not hanging.

So good. I cried so many times and I am so happy they were together by the end of the story. I was afraid that it was just an illusion of Lewellyn’s but I am so happy that it’s not. I will never forget this and I hope them to be the happiest they have ever been. I am so glad that they found somewhere nice to live and are living out their lives peacefully.
