This manga is about a detective academy, Dan Detective School (DDS), whose students are the selected few from more than 1000 applicants each year. DDS is the most prestigious school founded by Detective Morihiko Dan, the only and legendary private detective allowed to carry a gun in Japan. Kyu Renjo, the main protagonist, is amongst one of those selected few. Despite his clumsiness and awkward conversational skills, Kyu has a sheer sense of wisdom and analysis whenever logical explanations come into play. Kyu always wanted to be a detective because of an epic detective whom he greatly admired since the young age. He is later admitted to Q class with 4 other great classmates who possess respective strengths: Megumi with her superb photographic memory, Kintaro with inhuman strength, Ryu with his direct and brutally honest approach to crime solving, and Kazuma the computer genius. Together, they compete with class A in order to be Dan-sensei's successor. And they will also face against Pluto, an evil crime organization whose specialization lies on hypnotizing and using people to commit crime without blood on their hands. The journey against all from of evil between class Q and Pluto continues. And more mysteries will be revealed along the way. Kyu's trademark works after solving a mystery is "There's only one answer"
