Dolls Code

Complete | Kinashi Runamu | 2000 released

Why did the fatty stay thin? Or is he on a diet? Like others have said, the ending was rushed. The puppet suddenly changed personality in a span of few pages (from wanting to graduate and betraying everyone to not wanting to kill the others to to graduate. I honestly get the vibe that it was all in his plan since the last line of those who helped the MCs was "we're here to follow X's (the puppet) wishes to save you" (non-verbatim) as if everything was premeditated. But the execution certainly didn't show any of that from the puppet's side (as mentioned, it just looked like he had a 360° personality change (yes, 360, not 180 lol. 2 turns)). The ending also never explained how everything that happened happened (lol, sorry poor English), just that it was ~reality~. There wasn't a build-up on the teacher's side (the teacher himself and his coworkers) on who they are, why they're doing this, etc, so it's just... surprise mathafaka (which came off bland since it wasn't given enough focus). Not to mention, the motivation behind everything doesn't make sense at all (*heavier spoilers in the midst of all the spoilers I spouted* so the goal was to make a perfect human, why take random people's body parts? Pretty sure the twins don't have a perfect body since they were poor, the fatty would probably have unhealthy organs, the head/face of the hacker is useless and his brains/intelligence has more worth, a dick is just a dick (or does he have an anaconda? Lmao)). I'm pretty convinced this was meant to be longer, but got axed so it had to be rushed. Still, I'm glad to see everyone had a happy ending (the rapist kinda got off way too easily though; after all, a common trope in shoujo (whether bl or straight) is that a person who got raped/harassed by their lover suffers from doormat syndrome who forgive their lover easily; and no, that isn't Stockholm, that's just poor writing to finish off the arc fast)). And yeah... There's a bit of bromance between the puppet and one of the characters. I guess it can be considered self-cest since the puppet has the **** of the other. Wahaha All the problems could probably be solved if the epilogue was longer tbh (lil explanation here and there). But oh well, manga industry sucks so the author was most likely forced to rush the story.

*spoilers* Since I can't reply to comments, I'll just put it here as a reminder to myself when the comment system returns (which I hope it will, and I hope I do remember). Niko knew about Utsuromachi being trans because of Aiyori. It wasn't revealed how, but it was shown that they both weren't certain about it either. In the last chapter with the convo between Niko and Aiyori, the lines were shown: "Kill Utsur..." (presumably kill Utsuromachi next, her weakness is blah blah, so do this) "But that's too risky" (presumably too risky because if the guess (that she's trans and values keeping it a secret) is wrong, the plan might not be effective) It was just a little portion of a page though. And the translation isn't the best - most evidently in the last chapter when some sentences didn't make sense, and when the translation changed for a phrase from the same sentence used before (the one about Shira being hard to talk to after Ichimaru died). Tbh, I can't rate this properly because of bad translation (sorry translators, I'm still very grateful though). I can't tell if it's simply the bad translation or if it's the dialogues themselves that jump here and there. This is just for a few parts though (albeit important ones), the whole story can still be read and understood fine.
