Ugh. *SPOILERS* FL is forced to marry the ML when sister bails on the wedding. ML blames her while pining for the sister. THEN it comes out that the sister left because she caught him with another woman whom he also claims to love (good for the sister). The ML is abusive and terrible and a chump because, you guessed it, the sweet woman he loves is an evil white lotus. He's running around cheating while being jealous and demanding sex from the FL. This is one of those stories where grown, adult people sit around and act confused about their feelings. "Why do I care about her???" Jesus christ....Anyway he's "fallen in love" with the FL, but also "confused" and continues to physically and emotionally abuse and cheat on the FL. He asks for a divorce, FL says yes but ends up pregnant, he becomes "nice" for a few chapters (eye roll). Around chapter ~97 the woman he is in love with tries to abort the FL's baby by forcing her to drink something, abducts her, and throws her off a cliff. The FL washes up on a beach with memory loss. Time skip and she has a son who looks like the ML. Cue chapters dragging on as he tries to prove it's her because she claims not to remember. They eventually reunite, but there's never any real redemption for him. She just forgives him. I have nothing against forgiving formerly trash ML's. I can even stomach forgiving deplorable ML's. However, the story doesn't work for it. She's just naïve and we, as the audience, should forgive him being a "brat" as an adult man. In my opinion, he's not a charming or charismatic enough character to make you invested in forgiving him. I skimmed after the divorce, followed the time skip and quit once they reunited.
