I think what made me so insanely upset and emotional was when He Zhishu’s last words had to do with seeing Jiang Wenxu at their old school while doctor ai held him in his arms. Meaning that although Jiang Wenxu was an asshole and He Zhishu understood how badly he was being treated he still yearned for him out of love till his fleeting moments.
